New Surf Resort approved for Placer One

The Gist: The Placer County Planning Commission has officially approved plans for Alchemy Surf Resort, a recreational destination coming to the edge of Roseville, Rocklin, and Lincoln. Planned by Inland Surf Company, the getaway will center around a 5-acre surf lagoon alongside a 100-room hotel, bungalows, dining spots, and a 28,390-square-foot surf center. The team aims to break ground in spring 2027.

Why It Matters: Beyond catching waves, neighbors will have a fun new gathering space complete with a standing wave pool, an outdoor skate plaza, climbing walls, playgrounds, and casual dining spots to hang out with family and friends.

Robot Battles heading to Sierra College

The Gist: Maker Faire Rocklin takes over the Sierra College campus this Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free event brings together local makers, artists, and engineers for a full day of hands-on workshops and creative projects. The main draw of the day is Bot'Geddon, a BattleBots-style tournament where tiny combat robots will clash in a double-elimination bracket.

Why It Matters: It's a fun way for us to support local student builders and regional creators right here in our community. Plus, with Sierra College marking its 90th anniversary and hosting a campus preview day at the same time, it is a great excuse to drop by, explore the campus, and cheer on the makers.
