The Gist: Roseville’s Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department has officially earned accreditation from the National Recreation and Park Association’s CAPRA commission. Only 219 agencies nationwide hold this distinction out of more than 12,000.

The Gist: Sierra College students can now ride local transit for free after a 3-year pilot delivered over 111,000 rides. The program covers Placer County Transit, Roseville Transit, Auburn Transit, Nevada County Connects, and Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit. Students voted to fund it permanently through a student fee.

Why It Matters: Free rides mean more students can reliably get to class, jobs, and resources without worrying about the cost of transportation.
