Boot Barn moved over to Roseville

The Gist: Your next Boot Barn stop is in Roseville. The store has moved from Rocklin to 318 North Sunrise Avenue, next to Home Depot, and it's already open.

Why It Matters: At the November 7 celebration, 2 to 4 p.m., you can save $20 on select boots and up to 20% on select clothing, with live music and giveaways.

A new spot to wash your dog on Sunset

The Gist: Your muddy dog has a new wash stop on Sunset Boulevard. Pet Evolution announced an October 23 opening in Rocklin, with self-serve dog washes and grooming at 2200 Sunset Boulevard, Suite 360.

Why It Matters: You can walk in for a self-serve wash without bringing supplies, but the dog wash closes an hour before the store.

Kebab wrapped up, dessert still to come

Kebab wrapped in lavaş bread, then finished with tomato and garlic-yogurt sauce: that’s the Sarma Beyti Kebab at Bosphorus Turkish Cuisine. You can start with dolma stuffed with rice, pine nuts and currants, then finish with künefe, sweet cheese between layers of kadayıf with syrup, pistachios and ice cream. They’re closed Mondays, so make it a Tuesday dinner when you want to linger over dessert.

Those garden pots have a backstory

Pottery World in Rocklin and a historical pottery stand.

An old pie wagon once carried the pots behind Pottery World. Jim Rodda began selling pottery in 1974 and made weekly runs to Los Angeles for more, with his son Bill and daughter Ann helping the family business today. You'll find garden pots, fountains and home decor at the Rocklin store. There's a cafe serving breakfast and lunch, too, so you can sit down for a meal between browsing.
