Placer farms post a $122 million yearThe Gist: Placer County’s crops and livestock reached a record $122 million in gross value in 2025, up 9.9%, according to the county’s latest crop report. Cattle led at $34.5 million. Rice rose to second place at $17.5 million as planted acreage expanded, while almonds reached $15.8 million as more orchards entered full production. Why It Matters: The orchard expansion also increases demand for pollination, linking almond growers with local bee and honey producers.

A giant steel jester and local art
Clarks Corner is a family-owned retail boutique in Rocklin. Its most unusual offering: a Mardi Gras jester sculpture made from reclaimed steel saw blades. Michael and Dawn Clark created it for the Rocklin Jubilee 2000 parade, and it is now for sale. At 100 inches tall and 86 inches wide, this piece of local parade history needs more than a little shelf space.
