Can you believe we’re already staring down the end of January? It feels like we were just setting resolutions, and now we’re looking at Valentine parties and spring baseball tryouts. The Gist: After years of waiting, Roseville’s second Costco opened Friday in West Roseville. Excited shoppers lined up as early as Thursday to be first through the doors. City leaders and the local chamber marked things with a ribbon cutting celebration.

Why It Matters: This is the first major subject at Baseline Marketplace, bringing jobs, shopping convenience, and momentum nearby to a quick-growing part of Roseville.

The Gist Placer SPCA is opening a brand new, 8,800 square foot Veterinary and Foster Care Center right here on Tahoe Avenue. This donor-funded facility will massively expand medical services and support for local animals. You can get a first look at the lifesaving space during a public ribbon-cutting and open house this weekend.

Why It Matters More medical space means more second chances for our local shelter animals and better support for the families who foster them.
