A city website just got a little smarter, a Roseville bike shop is celebrating seven decades, and a major regional water project is moving forward. Those are the kinds of local stories that can easily get buried between everything else happening in town, so we’re pulling them together for you.

Then there’s the fun stuff, balloons at sunrise, circus performers, live music, comedy, and tacos with trivia. It’s a pretty good reminder that there’s always more happening around the corner than we realize.

Say hello to CivicBot, Lincoln’s digital helper

The Gist: The City of Lincoln launched CivicBot on August 24th, a new AI chat assistant available on every page of the city website. It helps residents quickly report local issues, find quick answers to everyday questions like library hours, and even analyze uploaded photos to automatically identify problems like full park trash cans or road debris.

Why It Matters: Instead of hunting through pages of municipal info or guessing which department handles a problem, locals can now get instant help right from their screen. It makes tackling everyday neighborly hassles, like reporting potholes or tracking down city services, faster and far less frustrating.

Roseville signs on to a big Regional Water Plan

The Gist: The Placer County Water Agency board approved a joint powers agreement with the cities of Roseville and Sacramento, officially forming the RiverArc Joint Powers Authority. RiverArc is a long-planned project that would pull water from an existing Sacramento River intake, treat it at a new regional plant, and deliver it through new pipelines. It's still moving through environmental review.

Why It Matters: The Sacramento River holds up better in droughts than the American River, so the plan aims to shore up the water supply for western Placer County for decades to come.

Pouring wine, tossing pizza, skipping the crowds

845 Twelve Bridges Dr Ste 145, Lincoln

Lincoln finally found its living room when Citizen Vine opened its doors, keeping evenings relaxed and far removed from mall traffic. Owners still stop by your table to navigate the pour list, whether you are lining up a wine flight or sharing small plates.

The crisp Detroit-style pizza, street tacos, and charcuterie boards are non-negotiable, but save room for the beignets. Snag a patio table while the late-summer air holds.

Two wheels and seven decades of local tracks

378 N Sunrise Ave, Roseville

Seventy years is a long time to keep a neighborhood moving. Bob's Cycle Center has been doing exactly that since 1955, and the Roseville shop has staff like Remy who welcomes you in early and Mark who has handled decades of custom repairs.

Their floor is stocked with fresh Orbea e-bikes, Marin collabs, and Scott setups. As summer winds down, it is a great moment to roll in for a tune-up before that upcoming long weekend ride.
