We are officially into that sweet spot of the year where the days are long and the weekend starts on Thursday. If you have driven past Sierra College Boulevard lately, you might have noticed people getting ready for all kinds of outdoor adventures.

This week we are spotlighting some great local organizations and a patio space that is perfect for your next date night. We also have a full list of weekend events to keep the kids entertained. Have a wonderful week out there!

Roseville Tigers Finish the Job, Win NorCal Title

The Gist: One year after a heartbreaking 2-1 loss in the CIF NorCal Regional Division III championship, Roseville High's baseball team came back and won it, beating Menlo School 4-2 on Saturday. Sophomore Ben Jordan's two-run homer in the first inning set the tone, and senior Dustin Holcomb, who took the loss in last year's title game, came in relief and shut the door.

Why It Matters: This is a full-circle moment for a group of players who carried last year's loss all the way back to the top.

What's Next: The Tigers finish the season 53-16 over two years, with a league title, two section crowns, and now a NorCal championship to show for it.

Free Meals Coming to All Lincoln Students Next School Year

The Gist: Western Placer Unified School District is rolling out free breakfast and lunch for all students across 13 schools in Lincoln for the 2026-27 school year. The program covers every level, from elementary through high school, under a federal Provision 2 designation.

Why It Matters: For Lincoln families, this means one less expense and one less worry heading into the new school year.

What's Next: Questions? Contact WPUSD Nutrition Services coordinator Christina Lawson at [email protected] or visit the district office at 600 Sixth Street, Suite 400 in Lincoln.

A patio night with polish

3992 Douglas Boulevard, Roseville, CA

House of Oliver feels like the kind of Roseville place that knows exactly what kind of night you are trying to have. It is a wine bar, cocktail lounge, and restaurant with a polished but still comfortable feel, and the restaurant highlights live music on the patio most weekends.

The food side has enough range to keep it from being just a drinks stop. Charcuterie boards, wedge salad, Asian chicken meatballs, burgers, ribs, mac and cheese, stuffed mushrooms, and dessert cocktails all show up across the site and reviews, which makes it a good fit for a date night, a group table, or a dinner that turns into a second drink outside.

It has that slightly dressed-up energy without feeling stiff, which is a useful sweet spot in Roseville.

A local excuse to get outside

8191 Sierra College Blvd, Roseville, CA

Bayside Adventure Sports is built around a pretty simple idea, helping people get outdoors and actually do the thing they keep saying they want to do. The Roseville-based nonprofit organizes groups and activities around hiking, cycling, mountain biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, camping, fishing, disc golf, snow sports, and more.

That range is what makes it useful. You do not have to be the person who already owns every piece of gear or knows every trail. The group has divisions for different interests, including Good Life Adventures for adults 65 and older, plus women’s hiking and walking options.

It is a good reminder that local community does not always happen indoors. Sometimes it starts with putting something on the calendar and showing up outside.
