Pickleball Kingdom bringing indoor courts to Roseville
The Gist: Pickleball Kingdom is opening its first California location at Fairway Commons in Roseville, in the former Big Lots space on Fairway Drive. The 32,900 square foot indoor club will feature 11 pro courts, lounges, a pro shop, and concessions, with a planned opening in April or May 2026.
Why It Matters: Roseville residents will get a year round pickleball hub for lessons, leagues, and tournaments, plus new energy for nearby shops and restaurants.
Roseville man keeps Maidu history alive
The Gist: On Thanksgiving, Roseville resident Michael Ramirez, a member of the Strawberry Band of the Konkow Maidu, shares greetings in his Native language and leads tours to teach local history. He honors his great-grandmother, Bertha Nye Norton, and works to keep his tribe’s language, stories, and land stewardship traditions from disappearing.
Why It Matters: Ramirez is helping neighbors understand that Roseville and the Sacramento region sit on Native land with living people, culture, and responsibilities today.
