Our little corner of Placer County just keeps growing. We are seeing new schools opening up to support all the families moving in, and our local job market is staying incredibly strong. It is always exciting to watch the community evolve while still keeping that welcoming neighborhood feel.

We have rounded up all the best weekend activities below to help you celebrate the end of summer. Thanks for reading along with us every week!

West Roseville’s newest school opens its doors

The Gist: Winding Creek Elementary opens August 6, welcoming approximately 462 transitional kindergarten through fifth-grade students. The two-story campus on Celebrate Drive is Roseville City School District’s 22nd school and has room for as many as 650 students.
Why It Matters: West Roseville continues to add homes and families quickly. A new neighborhood school gives more students a campus close to home while adding much-needed classroom capacity.
Placer’s job picture remains stronger than most
The Gist: Placer County’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 4.2%, but it remains one of California’s lowest. The county is tied with Santa Barbara and Sonoma for the fifth-lowest rate in the state and continues to outperform neighboring Sacramento, El Dorado, Nevada, Yolo, and Yuba counties.
Why It Matters: A strong local job market supports household spending, business growth, and the steady development happening throughout Rocklin, Roseville, and Lincoln.

A Turkish table worth sharing

6688 Lonetree Boulevard, Suite 400, Rocklin, CA
Anatolian Table is the kind of Rocklin restaurant where ordering for the whole table feels like the right move. The kitchen prepares its Turkish dishes from scratch using fresh produce and no food coloring, additives, or MSG, with a dining room built around warm hospitality and meals that deserve a little time.
Start with the red lentil soup and spicy hummus, then move into the chicken shish kebap with grilled vegetables and rice. The shepherd salad adds plenty of tomato, cucumber, parsley, and brightness alongside the richer plates.
It works for a quiet dinner for two, but the menu gets more interesting when everyone shares.

Thrift finds that help cats

454 F Street, Lincoln, CA
FieldHaven Marketplace turns a downtown Lincoln thrift stop into direct support for cats in need. The shop carries vintage pieces, gently used clothing, furniture, home goods, collectibles, pet supplies, and repurposed finds, with all proceeds benefiting FieldHaven Feline Center.
The inventory changes constantly, so this is better approached as a treasure hunt than a shopping errand. You might leave with an old serving dish, a jacket, a piece of cat-themed decor, or something you did not know you needed.
There are cats here too. Champy’s Catfé and the marketplace adoption area give visitors a chance to meet adoptable felines while browsing.
Skip the Typical Resort This Summer. Stay in a Centuries-Old Sicilian Village Instead.
Casa Gratteri offers beautifully restored homes in Gratteri, a hidden mountain town in Sicily with sweeping views, deep history, and zero crowds. Full concierge service, a private chef on request, and modern finishes throughout. This is the kind of trip people talk about for the rest of their lives.
