There is something incredibly special about public art and how it can completely transform a familiar local building. This week we are sharing details on a massive new mural project designed to honor our local veterans in Roseville, and the organizers are looking for some community love to bring it to life. Inside, you will also find a handful of great ways to support local artists, listen to free music in our town squares, or simply find a pool to splash in after a long workday.

Thanks for reading and being such a great part of this community.

Roseville veterans mural is looking for local support

The Gist: Placer County is partnering with Blue Line Arts on a new mural for the Roseville Veterans Memorial Hall. The project will cover a 900-square-foot wall and is meant to honor local veterans while adding a lasting public art piece to the community.

Why It Matters: This is the kind of project that gives a familiar civic building more meaning. It also brings local arts and veteran recognition together in a way residents can actually see.

Roseville swim school marks more than 40 years

The Gist: Steve Wallen Swim School in Roseville was featured for more than 40 years of teaching swim lessons and water safety. The family-owned swim school says it has helped more than 30,000 swimmers build confidence in the water.

Why It Matters: In a summer-heavy, pool-heavy area like ours, water safety is not just a nice skill. It is a real family priority, and this is a local business with a long track record behind it.

A neighborhood pizza night twist

2270 Nicolaus Road, Suite 107-108, Lincoln, CA

Lincoln Pizza is built for the nights when nobody wants to overthink dinner. It is a neighborhood pizza shop on Nicolaus Road with classic pies, crispy sides, salads, wings, and online ordering that keeps the whole thing easy.

The fun part is the specialty side of the menu. The Tikka Masala Pizza brings chicken, peppers, onion, and cilantro into the mix, which gives the usual pizza-night routine a little surprise. Add mozzarella sticks or a Caesar salad and you have the kind of weeknight order that feels low effort in the best way.

Old-soul finds in Lincoln

531 Lincoln Boulevard, Lincoln, CA

Rustic Crown Market feels like the kind of downtown stop where you should give yourself time to wander. The Lincoln shop leans into vintage finds, antiques, unique home decor, western pieces, local artwork, and little gifts that feel more personal than anything you grabbed on autopilot.

The shop was started by the Dornbush family in 2015, and the whole place carries that small-town, family-run feel. Cowboy hats, vintage western wear, charming home pieces, nostalgic knick-knacks, and locally made items all share the same shelves, which makes it an easy detour when you are already near downtown Lincoln.
